My local picks
A few of my favourite spots near the properties.

Doo Dee Boran
Half the fun of Doo Dee Boran is finding it. This Thai restaurant is tucked into the laneways of Brisbane city, so the walk there takes you past cafes, shops and some of the city's quieter corners. Worth the wander.

No. 5 Cafe
A little cafe hidden down a lane in Fortitude Valley, No. 5 is the kind of place that's easy to walk past and hard to leave. The coffee is excellent, and the food matches it; good for a slow morning or a midday break.

Mt Coot-tha
About 15 minutes from the city, Mt Coot-tha gives you sweeping views over Brisbane without much effort. There's a cafe and restaurant at the summit, so you can eat, drink and take in the outlook all in one visit.
