Every week we introduce a new team member at Hometime. To kick things off, we're featuring our Growth Marketing Marketing, Britta Dahms. Find out more!

This week we’re spotlighting our Growth Marketer, Britta Dahms.  Read on to learn more about what makes her tick.

Where are you based?

I live in beautiful Cape Town with my fiancé, a dog named Nugget and cat, Avo.

What does a typical day of work look like?

My alarm wakes me up every morning and reads out events and meetings for the day so I know what lies ahead and can prepare. I start some days of the week off with pilates to rehab a recent back operation. Once I’m back home, I’ll make myself a coffee, give Avo some love and make my way to the office at home. I go through Slack and respond to all messages and action any urgent items before checking my mailbox. Next up is Hubspot, I’ll go over the leads received for the day. The good thing about being 9 hours behind Sydney is that I can reflect on the leads at the end of the day in Australia and implement any changes to the current campaign during my working day.

Once all messages are replied to, I’ve checked reports and actioned urgent items I’m usually out of coffee so I’ll make myself another cup. At around 11 am I’ll start actioning the items on my to-do list that I created the day before and reach out to the different teams for assistance, handing over briefs, writing copy or assisting with any brand-related matters.

I usually take a break in the afternoon for an hour or two to run errands or do urgent things around the house. Once I’m back, around 4 pm,  I’ll finish off my work for the day until around 6-7 pm, reflect and create a neat to-do list for the next day.

What are some of Hometime's values you connect with that drew you to the role?

The values of a company are extremely important to me and are always one of my first questions during interviews. I chose to work at Hometime because the company is focused on enabling short-term rental management businesses to grow and reach their full potential. My previous role at a company based in Cape Town was very involved with startups and small businesses and I was looking for a role where I can be more involved with directly helping these companies grow. When I heard that growing small property management businesses and enabling them with amazing technology, I knew Hometime would be a great fit for me.

How do you unwind?

I love making things and recently got into clothing design so I’ve been spending time making clothes and getting back into sketching and photography. I also love working in the garden and spending as much time there as possible.

What is one thing people don't know about you that may surprise them?

I was a green belt in kickboxing before I switched to boxing training. I’ve won 2 white collar and 1 amateur boxing fights so I’m still undefeated in Cape Town.

What podcast are you listening to/what book are you currently reading

I’m listening to Lex Fridman Podcast and reading A Demon-Haunted World: Science As A Candle In The Dark by Carl Sagan.

What gets you excited about life?

I like meeting and spending time with new people. Learning more about their life journeys helps me reflect on my own. I also recently got engaged and am planning a wedding which is very exciting. I’m looking forward to celebrating the day with everyone close to us.
